SHREE SAMARTHA VYAYAM MANDIR, DADAR is renounced sports institution creating sports persons in many games.
It was to his ill-fated that his team did not continued due to heavy beatings and scolding from their coach. Even then they manage to continue as a team.
Presently ARUN DESHMUKH is the treasurer for last 16 years and has created a notable history of holding highest consecutive tenure of treasury in this recognized institution. Even when today as a professional and a Notary, Govt. of India ARUN DESHMUKH is available in evening between 7:00 to 8:30 at Shivaji park rendering coaching in Volley ball, Kho Kho.
Early Period :-
ARUN DESHMUKH came in institution right at the age of four. He played wrestling and mallakhamb in initial stage at the main institution i.e. Late.P.L. Kale Guruji Vyayamshala at Gokhale Road. There was shifting of places made by the institution due to which ARUN DESHMUKH came to Shivaji park from P.L. Kale Guruji Vyayamshala in the year 1981. He started joined general games under Patilsir from 1981. From 1981 itself he was selected in the first batch of Shekhar Pathare and started playing kho kho under his guidance. He played at district level. Due to frequent conflicts between Patharesir and him he started athletics vibhag and coached athletics and football group for 2 years from 1983 to 1985. Thereafter he shifted to volley ball during 1985 to 1989. In Volley ball he was one of the main player and coach. In the year of 1989 Patharesir left the institution and Deshpandesir offered ARUN DESHMUKH to takeover the charge of kho kho vibhag. From the year of 1989 ARUN DESHMUKH was deputed as the main coach of kho kho wing. He started with mere two students- Sanjyot kulkarni and Nitin Parab to develop it as one of the recognize powerful teams of India.
Main coach of kho kho wing :-
From 1989 ARUN DESHMUKH flourished the teams of Shree Samartha in sub junior groups. From 1994 the sub junior teams actually started to show their presence by playing in finals. Players were continuously selected at State level from Mumbai teams. Prashant Sakhare became the first player to be selected in nationals under his guidance. In 1996 players showed a major show down wherein in total 6 were selected in the Mumbai Junior kho kho boys team. These were Prashant Sakhare, Babli Vaidya, Vikas Shirgaonkar, Makarand Bane, Prashant Ambare and Bhupesh Thakur. From these two were selected in nationals they were Prashant Sakhare and Babli Vaidya.
The first player from Shree Samartha to get selected in men teams of Mumbai and so also in nationals was Vikas Shirgaonkar.( who played 9 senior nationals – five from Maharashtra and 4 from railways and importantly all were gold medal. ) Vikas also had a record of getting best player award in all the age groups i.e. sub junior, junior and senior state. Vikas played almost 9 senior nationals all Gold out of which 4 he played from Maharashtra and 5 from Railways. He played 1 National Game with a Gold. He became the first shiv chatrapati from Shree Samartha Vyayam Mandir under guidance of ARUN DESHMUKH.
Babli Vaidya almost followed the footsteps of Vikas and Shree Samartha thus established its continuous Senior national flow. Babli played for four senior nationals, two junior Nationals, three InterUniversity. He got the Eklavya Puraskar for best player at senior national. He played one National Game with a Gold. He became the second shiv chatrapati from Shree Samartha Vyayam Mandir under guidance of ARUN DESHMUKH.
Manoj Vaidya due to service in police had a broken link of nationals but after 2007 he got a continuous national flow that also in Senior. He played for four senior nationals, two u/17 and three u/19 School Nationals, two junior Nationals, four Inter University. He played one National Game with a Gold. He became the third shiv chatrapati from Shree Samartha Vyayam Mandir under guidance of ARUN DESHMUKH.
Saket Jeste was a recognize star at junior level. He got veer abhimanyu award as best player in junior nationals. He played one sub junior National, two u/19 school National, five junior nationals and also got a continuous senior national flow. He played four Inter University. He played for four senior nationals. He played one National Game with a Gold. He got the Eklavya Puraskar for best player at senior national. He became the fourth shiv chatrapati from Shree Samartha Vyayam Mandir under guidance of ARUN DESHMUKH.
Tejas Shiraskar was the last in the series of shiv chatrapati. He also played for one sub junior National, one u/14 school national, one u/17 school national, Two Junior national, four senior nationals. He played three Inter University. He got the Eklavya Puraskar for best player at senior national. He played one National Game with a Gold. He became the Fifth shiv chatrapati from Shree Samartha Vyayam Mandir under guidance of ARUN DESHMUKH.
Many Shree Samartha kho kho players had shown their excellence at various age group and had brought laurels at different levels. Saket Jeste and Ashwin Sahasarabudhe won the veer Abhimanyu award for being the best player at junior nationals. Babli Vaidya and Saket Jeste were awarded Eklavya Puraskar for being best player at senior nationals.
Various ladies players of Shree Samartha Vyayam Mandir team also showed there prominence under guidance of ARUN DESHMUKH. Prominent among them were Kranti Khandekar who was selected for Womens national played in Four All India Inter universities. She was in Mumbai ladies team for a continuous 10 years span. Sajal Patil played in one senior, one junior, one sub junior, three school Nationals . She played two Inter University. Sneha Newalkar also played for three sub junior and one junior National. Dipika Sonawadekar played in one sub junior national. Sheetal Panchal in one Women National. Prachi Wadadekar played in school nationals, Smita Newalkar who was my first best player receipient in State kho kho played in SNDT InterUniversity, Anushka Prabhu played in Federation and played two Inter University. Other players included Gargee Pandit, Maitrayee Kelkar, Rucha Gadgil, Siddhi Bandiwadekar, Vidya Pawaskar, Swapnapriya Ranade, Sanali More, Rajashree Amin, Tanvi Patwardan, Sampada Deshpande, Dipika Hardikar, Payal Kannamwar, Aaishwarya Kumamekar and Apoorva Churi.
In men section other prominent players other than Shiv Chatrapati awardees who showed their games at different national levels were Sushant Bandiwadekar who played nearly seven nationals, Ashwin Sahasrabudhe who played three Nationals, Prashant Sakhare played three nationals, Makarand Bane played one Nationals, Rupesh Shelatkar played 2 nationals, Shekhar patil played three Nationals, Bhupesh Thakur played one National, Tejas Amin played two Nationals, Viraj Kothamkar played three nationals, Santosh gade played three Interuniversity nationals, Snehal bagkar played one nationals, Varun patil played one Nationals, Sidvik Bhagat played one senior National and one interuniversity and so on..
For a continuous tenure of 25 years from 1989 to 2014 ARUN DESHMUKH held the post of Kho Kho Vibhag pramukh wherein in the year of 2011 he was awarded the Best Coach Award (Dadoji Konddev Award) from Maharashtra State at the hands of then Chief Minister Prithviraj Chauhan for the year of 2008-2009.
Under the guidance of Adv. Arun G. Deshmukh two State Championships were held by shree Samartha Vyayam Mandir. The first was in 1996 of Junior Age group. The leading volunteers being Shri.Nandkumar Wadadekar. Then in 2003 again Adv. Arun G. Deshmukh organized the Sub Juniors State Championship. In this event alongwith Shri.Nandkumar Wadadekar, Balasaheb Toraskar and Nilesh Parab were the prominent persons helping in the conduction of the event. In the year of 2010 with Viyom Foundation the first Senior Nationals to be held in Mumbai was taken at Shree Samartha Vyayam Mandir. Adv. Arun G. Deshmukh being the Joint secretary of Viyom Foundation was the Organizing Secretary of the major successful event.
The tenure of ARUN DESHMUKH as the in charge of Kho kho saw not only the prominence in game but also in organizational part in the District Association. ARUN DESHMUKH became the Committee member from 2000 then became Joint secretary from 1996 till 2003. From 2003 to 2006 he held the post of Treasurer. From 2007 leaving a small period of 11 months of committee dissolvement in 2007 he is holding the post of Secretary with unopposed selection for the post till 2017 ( and would be holding the same till 2020)
ARUN DESHMUKH became the Governing Council Member in 2007 to 2008 then again from 2010 continuous till present year 2017.
Other members such as Udaydada Lad, Shivkumar Lad, Nilesh parab, Balasaheb Toraskar, Bhalchandra Chandorkar, Ravindra pashte, Nandakumar Wadadekar and Sangita Patil were being selected in Committee members on different post. Prominently contineous being first six persons.
After the continuous tenure of 25 years ARUN DESHMUKH passed the responsibility baton to his next senior in line up Nilesh parab and took in charge of a different game i.e. Langadi. In his tenure he organized 20 kho kho Camps and even after passing the baton ARUN DESHMUKH took part in organizing the 21st Kho Kho Shibir in 2016. The 2016 kho kho Shibir was fully sponsored by him.
In this whole tenure in Kho Kho wing Adv. Arun G. Deshmukh arranged many hikes and tours in Sahyadri Region. Trekking habbit was developed in the students. Also each year Kho Kho Shibir was successfully conducted and cultural events of Makar Sankranti Utsav, Dhulwad, Ganesh viewing at Parel-lalbaug, alongwith Shree Samartha Ganesh Festival wherein kho kho boys and girls participated in group dance activities. The bonding created in the team was ever lasting. In Diwali and on other days Adv. Arun G. Deshmukh would visit the students house and had a good repo with the parents.
Main coach of Langadi wing :-
As the Main coach of Langadi Wing Adv. Arun G. Deshmukh successfully carried out his near about 2 years leadership & coaching. Shree Samartha Boys and girls participated in abundant at National and International events.
Adv.Arun Deshmukh became the first International Referee when he stood as referee at Kathmandu in the matches of India v/s. Nepal. Adv. Arun also was the coach for India A Team boys and the Nepal Tour was a huge success. Shree Samartha Vyayam Mandir boys and girls were the largest in the contingent of this Nepal Tour. Along with Referee and Coach Adv. Arun Deshmukh his Nine students who participated in the event were Viraj Kothamkar, Sidvik Bhagat, Pranay Mayekar,Punit Patil, Sajal Patil, Anushka Prabhu, Madhura Palav, Aditi Sahanio and Rajeshree Singasane. The Nepal tour went from Pokhara to Kathmandu and had also witness lot of sightseeing.
Adv.Arun Deshmukh another student participated in the U/14 International event at Kathmandu. In Bhutan International Series Madhura Palav participated.
At National level also at Chandigarh, Kalyan, Tamilnadu students participated in good numbers.
Shree Samartha Vyayam Mandir took Langadi State Championship in the year 2014-2015 with large number of team participating in the event. The tournament was co-sponsored by URL Foundation.
Main coach of Volley ball wing :-
In the year 2016 around February Adv. Arun Deshmukh changed his group to Volley Ball and started reorganizing the same. With the help of former National player Shri.Uday Diwekar a good number of students have started to practice Volley Ball at shree Samartha Vyayam Mandir, Dadar. The group conducted its first Volley Ball Camp from 27th January to 5th February 2017 wherein 280 students participated.
Player to Office Bearer :-
Adv. Arun G. Deshmukh became the Committee Member in the year 1990 and continued as the member till 2000. In the year 2000 Adv. Arun G. Deshmukh became the Treasurer of the institution and continued till todays date with the responsibility of Treasury.
